Lola is our dog who we think is somewhere around 4 years old. We rescued Lola from the Charlotte Human Society back in October, 2008. The human society had her named Daisy, and said she was a Bluetick Coonhound. My wife and I definitely feel like she has some hound in her, but we do not feel she is 100% Bluetick. Anyways, the day we decided to go to the human society to rescue a dog we were both a little nervous about the whole process, and had no idea really what to expect. Once we got in though, we realized these were all great dogs. Who knows why they were there or what their past was like. It's sad to think that there are people who abuse their pets or just abandon them because of who knows what, but it happens everyday. I say this because this definitely goes through your head when your walking around looking at all these pets looking for a new home. It made me wish I owned tons of land to where we could take all of them home with us to run free and live the life that every dog deserves. Unfortunately, we don't have tons of land, nor do we have a bank account that could provide for all these dogs. We were faced with the tough decision of only being able to choose one. We walked around for a while looking at dogs until I finally found a German Shepherd that I thought would make a good addition to our family, and of course my wife found another dog that she thought would be a better suit for us. The German Shepherd appeared healthy, obedient, and manly. The poor pup my wife discovered looked a little awkward. She had these big floppy ears, a long snout, and she was very lanky. They had her named Daisy and beside age, there was a question mark. My wife refused to even look at the German Shepherd. Daisy was it, she was done with the search. We had them let her out and put her in the play pin with us. Once she was loose in the play pin with us, it was game over. She ran and played, and cuddled, and seemed to be the happiest dog in the world. I was even converted at that point. We signed the papers and went back the following week to pick her up. Lola has been a part of our family since then, and we are so glad we have been able to provide a good home for her. She can be a pain in the butt sometimes, but anyone with a pet can say they same thing i'm sure. We can't imagine our family without her, and hope she lives a long and happy life.
If you are looking for a pet to add to your family. Please consider adopting from your local human society. I have provided a link to the Charlotte human society for people in and around the charlotte area. www.humansocietyofcharlotte.org
